Rep. Thomas Massie says House Republican Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney and other GOP lawmakers should now support his reelection after withdrawing their endorsements of his primary opponent over resurfaced racist tweets.

The 49-year-old Kentucky Republican was ostracized by Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill for demanding a roll call vote on the $2.2 trillion coronavirus relief package last month and found himself fighting for his reelection sans support from Republican leadership.

Cheney and Ohio Republican Rep. Mike Turner gave money to Massie’s primary opponent Todd McMurtry only to later revoke their endorsements and ask for their money back when several racially-charged tweets of McMurtry’s, including some that went back just six-to-eight months ago, came to the forefront.
