Pelosi unfazed at smaller House majority after big Republican gains

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi dismissed the notion that a smaller Democratic majority starting in January will make it harder to pass legislation, particularly if there’s a Joe Biden presidency.

Democrats lost at least seven House races this cycle and could be on track to lose more, as additional races are still outstanding. After failing to expand the majority won in the 2018 midterm elections, incumbent Democratic lawmakers are pointing fingers at one another over who is to blame.

Virginia Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger blamed her close raceon her party’s far-left base, including calls to “defund the police” and cries for socialism.
