Virginia Republicans say Democrats losing ground game by ditching door-knocking effort

Despite naysayers betting against their candidates’ chances, Virginia Republicans say Democrats in the commonwealth made a mistake by ceding their ground-game door-knocking effort this election cycle.

The Republican Party of Virginia, taking a cue from the Trump campaign’s door-knocking efforts, is sending volunteers all over the state to encourage residents to turn out for their slate of candidates.

The state party, in conjunction with the Trump Victory campaign, has hosted more than 850 events this year in the commonwealth and made just under 2 million calls to homes, party Chairman Rich Anderson told the Washington Examiner, adding that party volunteers have also knocked on 336,000 doors in the state as well.
